THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO MADE OUR FIRST MEAT RAFFLE A GREAT SUCCESS!
It was the quirkiest, fun time you can have the day after Halloween. Many came dressed in costume to win the $25 Wegmans Gift Card prize. And ALL THAT MEAT! It was quite the variety. NINE people won the Grand Prizes: a full turkey dinner! Over 30 Basket Raffle prizes (including Buffalo Bills autographed keepsakes; Shea’s and National Comedy Center tickets; liquor; chocolate; a hammock; and so much more!) and a Buffalo Bills 9′ x 9′ Tailgating Canopy Door Prize.
SPECIAL THANKS TO OUR DONORS & VOLUNTEERS
Such a large interactive event would not be possible without the help of many generous people:
Thank you for our Sponsors: North Buffalo Community Lions Club $250, EFPR Group Certified Accountants $100, Guild Eyewear Studio $100, the Lions Club of Buffalo $100, and Moldenhauer & Associates $100.
Thank you to our Donors: Mike Benzin – Raffle prizes; Buffalo Museum of Science – Raffle prize; Peggy Chudzik – Raffle prizes; Marian Hetherly – Basket prizes; Pat Herweg – Basket prizes; Tracy LeBlanc – Basket prize; Lockport Lions Club – Basket prize; Chuck Nellis – Basket prize; Liz Ortel – Costume Contest and Raffle prizes; Linda Rinelli – Basket prize; Bill Saurer – Raffle prizes; Ann Scherff – Basket prizes; Shea’s Performing Arts Center – Raffle prizes; and Frauke Stoffel – Door prize.
Thank you also to those who bought tables of 12 for the event and a wonderful team of volunteers who worked tirelessly the evening of the event. Without everyone’s participation and commitment to the mission of your Niagara Frontier Radio Reading Service, we could not have done it!
The Volunteers & Partners Celebration, sponsored by Wegmans on October 23, 2024, honored the volunteers who helped us expand into the Rochester area. Pictured (left to right) are Tom Allen, NFRRS Executive Director Mike Benzin and Ginni Jurkowski.
It also was the launch of a major push to ensure people there who are blind or have a print disability remain engaged and informed members of their community. Thank you to everyone who joined us, including Visions Services at Goodwill of the Finger Lakes and Starbridge. And thank you Comedy @ The Carlson for the venue.
We need your input on a new Advisory Panel we are establishing, plus volunteers to read Rochester-area publications. Please email mike@nfradioreading.org or call (716) 821-5555 extension 2 if you are interested.
Individuals, groups, and companies are invited to help give people who are blind or have a print disability a chance to read by joining our annual “Radio Reading Makes Cents” Coin Drive, collecting spare change for your Niagara Frontier Radio Reading Service.
Radio Reading makes sense — but Radio Reading also makes “C-E-N-T-S,” as people are asked to collect and bring in their extra coins to keep us on air.
Coins can be dropped off at your Niagara Frontier Radio Reading Service studios at 1199 Harlem Road in Cheektowaga (between Clinton and Dingens Streets). We will also pick up large quantities of coins upon request.
Our Coin Drive helps drive our programming, provides special “reading radios,” and supports the streaming of our live feed and podcasts to the internet.
Maybe you should!
For every $100 our supporters spend at Dash’s, we get $2.50. All you have to do is send us the original register receipts. It couldn’t be any easier! Dash’s has contributed thousands of dollars over the years to your Niagara Frontier Radio Reading Service.
