Improving Listener
Quality of Life

It’s almost impossible to imagine not being able to read, but there are some 130,000 people who are blind or have a print disability in the Western New York-Rochester-Southern Ontario region. Some of these neighbors have never had the ability to read, while others lost the ability or access to information due to age, accidents, medical conditions, or socioeconomic barriers.

Cut off from the newspapers, magazines, and books that most of us take for granted, your Niagara Frontier Radio Reading Service is a way to share these materials.

Listening devices include a tabletop radio, portable radio, tablet, laptop, smart phone and smart speakers

What Listeners want, when they want it, wherever they are.

Our broadcasts are transmitted over a subcarrier radio frequency, provided at no charge by Buffalo Toronto Public Radio and WNED 94.5FM, to special receivers that are loaned to registered listeners for free.

We also transmit over the Internet to computers, mobile phones, and smart speakers. Many of our programs are available on demand as podcasts – so listeners can listen to what they want, when they want, and how they want! More information about accessing our broadcasts can be found on our Programming webpage.
